Recruiters Find These Four Things As Uncomfortable As You Do-Job Mindz
Let’s assume that you’ve been called for an interview. Mahajan is the interviewer and you, obviously, are the candidate. While you’re all ready and nervous too, let’s see what’s running in Mahajan’s mind and what makes him as nervous as you.
1. Small talk before the interview.
You might be worried that you might make a small talk that may ruin the rest of the interview. In case you end up saying something which the interviewer doesn’t approve of, he would think of hiring another candidate. Guess what? Even the interviewer has the same fear! He wants to make sure you’re comfortable with which he may arrange for a sofa set or a cup of coffee.
In other words, he doesn’t want you to judge him or the company “This is so nasty! I will go to another company!” His equally afraid that he may end up saying something that will put you off and make you reject them, or worse, go join their rival company! There is a reason for which they’ve called you. They require your skills and expertise which they don’t want their rivals to acquire.
2. What should I wear?
I know. We all have asked ourselves this question several times, including the times when we had to appear for an interview! Guess what? So does the recruiter!! He also worries about what to wear. Just like you want to make a great impression on them, they too want to make a great impression on you. A huge fear in them is that they may wear an outfit that makes them appear like a 13-year-old! Certainly, they don’t want you to walk out thinking “Weirdo company and weirdo people! I will never work here!” So the next time you walk in and find that the hiring manager is fidgeting, rest assured that he is possibly worried that he might not be dressed as you would expect.
3. Responding to emails
When he wants to send you an email, chances are that he himself is stressed. He may prepare one, but will verify it multiple times himself and get it checked by colleagues as well! He wants to ensure he doesn’t sound unprofessional. He might make errors such as grammatical errors. He is under lots of pressure to hire the right person.
4. Conference regarding salary
You want a particular amount of money but you are embarrassed to bring out the topic. The same thing runs in the head of the recruiter as he himself will have no idea about the salary range mostly. The hiring manager will know that. The interviewer would possibly be wondering “What if the candidate asks me about the salary range?” Ofcourse, he can’t say “I don’t know!”
So be cool, don’t worry and go to the interview well prepared with a smile. The recruiter has the same tensions as you do!
